Mallorca

Whether you refer to it as Mallorca or Majorca, this island is the largest of Spain’s Balearic islands which are located in the Mediterranean. In fact, the name derives from classic Latin with “maior” meaning “larger island” in comparison to Menorca, “the smaller one”. The capital of the island, Palma, is the capital of the autonomous community of the Balearic islands.

As with the other Balearic islands of Menorca, Formentera and Ibiza, Mallorca is extremely popular with tourists, notably from Germany and the United Kingdom. You just need to visit to understand why… the island has turquoise-blue seas, sparkling sheltered coves, golden sands, green foliage and rugged mountains. And, whilst the area is steeped in history with sites such as the Moorish Almudaina royal palace and 13th-century Santa María Cathedral, visitors can also experience a rich artisan and cultural scene with gastronomic excellence.
